The Importance of Renewable Energy
Renewable
energy has become an increasingly important issue for the nation’s
businesses. With the world’s oil supplies being depleted
at an alarming rate, alternatives are not easy to find. Dependency
on foreign oil has dangerous political and economic implications.
Nuclear power plants are aging. Natural gas is in limited supply
and the Northeast is limited by the pipeline capacity to serve
all natural gas end users. And coal is widely regarded as a dirty
fuel.
Among all
ratepayer groups, we have identified a growing demand for renewable
resources. Further, Congress has recently enacted a robust set
of tax incentives to foster development of renewable energy. Consequently,
renewable energy makes up an important component of New York Energy’s
product mix.
We are actively
developing wind power throughout the Northeast, and we will market
and sell renewable power. |
